Based Communications Donation to Teacher Supply Depot Puts a Fine Point on Supporting Education

A donation by BroadBased Communications, Inc., to the Duval Public Schools Teacher Supply Depot will help students sharpen their pencils as well as their minds when they return for the 2005-2006 school year.

BroadBased, a Jacksonville marketing design and communications firm, has donated 11,000 pencil sharpeners to the Teacher Supply Depot, which in turn will distribute them to public school teachers throughout the county.

"Donations such as these are critical," said Melissa Lyke, Supply Depot coordinator. "Public school teachers spend about $750 a year on average out of their own pockets for supplies, so when a company like BroadBased steps up to provide needed items, it makes a real difference to our teachers and our students."

Jan Korb, president of BroadBased, said the company supports several child-related causes in Jacksonville, and the donation to the Teacher Supply Depot was one way to have a direct impact.

“Supporting our schools is important to the success of our city, and the Teacher Supply Depot is an avenue for providing support that finds its way directly into the classroom,” Korb said.

In addition to accepting donations of new and reusable items, the Teacher Supply Depot also depends on volunteers to organize and distribute the supplies. It currently needs volunteers to help distribute classroom items during its annual Back to School Giveaway for teachers on July 28. Interested volunteers can contact Melissa Lyke at (904) 381-7480.

The Teacher Supply Depot is a joint effort of the Duval County Public Schools’ Community Involvement Office, Warehousing Division and The Duval County Council of PTAs/PTSAs.

Carolyn Bell Audije Joins BroadBased Communications, Inc.

BroadBased Communications, Inc. announced the addition of Carolyn Bell Audije as Senior Designer.

Audije, a graduate of the College of Mount St. Joseph in Cincinnati, Ohio joined BroadBased in March. Since moving to Jacksonville in 1992, she has worked as designer/art director for The Hamilton Collection, Jacksonville Magazine and the Jacksonville University office of Public Relations.

Audije’s leads BroadBased Communications’ Web design initiatives and develops communication strategies for printed collateral materials for a variety of clients.

Jan Korb, president of BroadBased, is enthusiastic about the recent changes within the company. “Carolyn is a strong part of our team, and she will play an important role in the ongoing growth of BroadBased with both local and national clients,” says Korb.

BroadBased Communications Wins Gold, Silver ADDY Awards
for RALLY Jacksonville! Branding and Materials

BroadBased Communications’ innovative concepts, used to brand and promote RALLY Jacksonville! and Mayor Peyton’s Book Club, earned high honors at the 2005 Jacksonville ADDY® Awards in February.

The Jacksonville agency earned one Gold ADDY and three Silver ADDYs for its work, which helped launch the city’s widely acclaimed early childhood literacy initiative, spearheaded by Mayor John Peyton.

“RALLY Jacksonville! is an innovative, forward-looking initiative that required a unique identity and bold branding to capture its spirit and convey its importance to the community,” said Jan Korb, BroadBased president and CEO. “Our designers, illustrators and writers came together to deliver some really outstanding results, and we all had a lot of fun doing it.”

Sponsored by the American Advertising Federation (AAF), the ADDY Awards honor excellence in advertising and cultivate the highest creative standards in the industry. The competition begins at the local level with the 210 AAF member clubs, including the Jacksonville Marketing and Advertising Club, which sponsors the local ADDY Award judging.

BroadBased earned a Gold ADDY for the design of the children’s books created specifically about Jacksonville for Mayor Peyton’s Book Club. Produced by Korb and her team, the books were illustrated by Ethan Long, an Orlando-based illustrator, and written by Jacksonville author Fran Peacock Coker.

BroadBased also earned a Silver ADDY for Mayor Peyton’s Book Club logo, and two Silver awards for the RALLY Jacksonville! backpack and contents, which is provided to 4-year-olds who join Mayor Peyton’s Book Club.
